Health In the health field, COMFENALCO Antioquia has its own Health Promotion Company (E.P.S.), by which medical services are provided to families in an integrated and personalized manner. Furthermore, it is an Administrator of the Subsidized System (provides health services to the low income population).
Education Education is one of the most important issues of COMFENALCO Antioquia, for which it has an Institute that offers different formal, non-formal and informal educational programs that promote the comprehensive formation of the person based on the knowledge and re-affirmation of values. As far as formal education, the Fund has a semi-formal program for persons older than 16, with basic elementary, high school and technical education.
Family Welfare & Education COMFENALCO Antioquia provides a timely and efficient service for families, with the purpose to offer the orientation required by each of its participants to achieve their well-being. In this area, Comfenalco provides family guidance, psychological counseling, gerontology programs and programs to prepare persons that are close to their retirement.
Culture and Libraries COMFENALCO Antioquia develops a range of cultural programs that search to satisfy the needs of knowledge and recreation of the community members and non-members of the Fund. Services include:
- Seven public libraries in the municipalities of the metropolitan area.
- Loaning of books, magazines, newspapers, cassettes and videos.
- Personal and telephone consultation service.
- Local information service (SIL).
- Cultural fostering and disclosure.
- Reading enhancement and disclosure.
- Mobile services, with over 10,000 books distributed in companies and educational facilities of the Department of Antioquia.
- E-Libraries
- Reading machine for the seeing impaired.
- PPP (Book Stands in Parks): Bookstands in different parks of rural areas of the municipalities of Antioquia.
Monetary Subsidy COMFENALCO Antioquia offers those members that earn up to four minimum legal wages, a family subsidy, in money, for each dependant.
Recreation and Sports COMFENALCO has a wide range of programs and facilities for the recreation, sports and healthy entertainment of the workers of Antioquia and their family groups. Among the sports services provided by the Fund are competitive programs of diverse disciplines, therapeutic and educational programs. Likewise, Comfenalco offers recreational activities for children, companies and integration programs.
Hotels and Tourism As far as tourism, COMFENALCO offers regional and national programs, especially in rural and agricultural tourism.
COMFENALCO Antioquia has three vacation centers in the municipalities of Jardín, La Pintada and Ciudad Bolivar. These centers have the accommodations that the visitors require to rest with their families, and provide corporate-type of activities.
Housing The members of COMFENALCO find in the Housing Department the best option to sell, buy or improve their homes. The Fund is a regional leader as far as plans, programs and projects of low-income housing:
- Granting of subsidies, in money, to acquire low-income housing.
- Technical and legal advice.
- Bank of used homes.
- Agreements with whole sellers to purchase construction material.
- Development of housing projects in different municipalities.
Social Credit COMFENALCO helps to relieve the economic burden of its member employees and their families, through easy access credits and approvals for health, education, housing, tourism, recreation and free-investment issues.
Regionalization The Fund constantly works to increasingly expand and cover the entire Department of Antioquia, especially in the vulnerable areas struck by violence. Hence, this is how it develops its programs and services of health, housing, recreation, education, culture and libraries, subsidy and tourism, in different regions of the Department through the Regional Units:
- Medellín - Bolivar Park (impact zones of Medellín)
- Northern Aburrá Bello (4 municipalities of the metropolitan area)
- South East - Andes (24 municipalities)
- East - Rionegro (23 municipalities)
- Urabá - Apartadó (6 municipalities of the Banana Region)
- Mobile Unit (Central Magdalena, the North West and Lower Cauca)
- Local Unit of Bagre.
- Eastern Region Services Unit, Santa Fe de Antioquia (18 municipalities)
Hence, COMFENALCO is present in 107 of the 125 municipalities of the Department of Antioquia, that is, it covers about 86% of the regional territory.
