285 rural libraries will be strengthened by COMFENALCO Antioquia
and the Government of Antioquia

Thanks to the association agreement established with the Government of Antioquia, COMFENALCO Antioquia has been developing the Antioquia vive la lectura (Antioquia lives for reading) project seeking to strengthen 285 public and school libraries in the same number of corrections and outlying areas of 95 towns in the Department of Antioquia.

The program, which will also benefit educational citadels and municipal libraries costs $5.800 million and ranges from diagnosing information needs at each site and designing the project’s pedagogical component, to buying the bibliographic material, cataloging and delivering it.

The 285 school and public libraries will each receive 286 books; 9 educational citadels will receive 1.766 books each and 5 municipal libraries will receive 1.000 texts each for increasing their collections.

COMFENALCO Antioquia’s experience and trajectory in the area of libraries meant that the Bureau was selected to lead this project, which becomes one of the most ambitious educational and cultural projects in the country.
