Within the framework of its 50th Anniversary, COMFENALCO Antioquia, supported y the Government of Navarra through the DNGO Compartir Navarra, the Éxito Foundation and the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare, will inaugurate the “Center for Integral Attention to Children” on March 30 of the current year in the town of Apartadó, and event which will gather together the community of the 4 de Junio neighborhood, the Municipal Government and representatives of the project’s different partner organizations.
The Center will attend approximately 6 thousand beneficiaries per year from the poorest neighborhoods in the area, offering Initial Education programs in the areas of adequate stimulation, group home, formal pre-school education and a toy and game collection for children. It will also promote health and disease prevention through taking and controlling anthropometric measurements, deparasitation, daily nutrition for the boys and girls who use the home, oral health activities and a vaccination scheme. The project also attempts to train socializing agents with components of human, agro-ecological and leadership training for integral attention to children and training in handling food.
Initial education is the most important exercise for these infants’ integral development, and this is the stage when the parents and society must make the greatest effort towards guaranteeing the welfare of these children and thus achieve a proper environment for their education. This is why the project invites the adults involved directly or indirectly with this population in order to supply them with information and assistance which will allow them to sensitize, reflect upon and change attitudes and methodologies which will favor the strengthening of the attention of children.
